Update: The Washington Huskies have made it official, announcing Steve Belichick as their new defensive coordinator.
Six-time Super Bowl champion head coach Bill Belichick is highly unlikely to be on a sideline in 2024. Belichick and the Patriots parted ways after 24 seasons earlier this year. Despite being linked to the Atlanta Falcons’ opening, among others, Belichick has not landed a job.
The same thing can’t be said about his son, Steve Belichick. According to Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports, the Washington Huskies are set to hire the younger Belichick as their defensive coordinator under new head coach Jedd Fisch.
Belichick has spent the past 12 seasons working under his father in New England. That included serving as the defensive playcaller over the past four seasons.
There was some thought that Belichick would be retained by new head coach Jerod Mayo. But that does not seem to be the case.
