Despite exiting last week’s win over the Indianapolis Colts late in the fourth quarter with a knee injury, things have been trending in the direction of Trevor Lawrence starting Thursday night for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
That’s now official. Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson told Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network that Lawrence will indeed start against the New Orleans Saints. He finished a 20-minute pre-game workout, which was good enough for the former No. 1 pick to be given the green light.
It’s somewhat surprising given the short week in between games. But the Jaguars would not send their franchise quarterback out there if they felt he wasn’t near 100%. He was considered a game-time decision heading into Thursday night’s matchup with New Orleans.

Trevor Lawrence stats (2023): 67% completion, 1,439 yards, 7 TD, 3 INT, 91.7 QB rating
Lawrence has his Jags in the midst of a three-game winning streak heading into this Week 7 affair. Dating back to early November of last season, the former Clemson star has accounted for 22 passing touchdowns compared to five interceptions in 15 starts. It’s not a concidence that Jacksonville has posted an 11-4 record in those 15 games.
The Jags head into Week 7 with a 4-2 record and in first place in the AFC South. They are one game ahead of the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans in the division.
A victory over the Saints would represent the Jaguars’ second four-game winning streak during this aforementioned 15-game span. Prior to that, Jacksonville had not won four consecutive since 2007.
