England’s Tommy Fleetwood was struggling to remain competitive during the opening round of the 2021 Masters Tournament in Augusta on Thursday.
That’s when Fleetwood went full Ross Somerville with a hole in one on the 16.
What an absolutely brilliant and much-needed shot from Tommy Fleetwood. It represents just the 28th ever hole in one on the 88-year history of The Masters.
As you might expect, the par-three 16th hole has had the most hole in ones with Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas both accomplishing the feat back in 2019. Ross Somerville was the first to hit a hole in one back in 1934.
By virtue of this tremendous shot, Tommy Fleetwood found himself plus-two on the day and nine shots behind tournament leader Justin Rose.
