Tennessee Titans linebacker Bud Dupree turned himself in Friday on a misdemeanor assault charge stemming from a fight last month at a Nashville drugstore.
He reported for booking at the Davidson County courthouse Friday morning, a Metro Nashville Police Department spokesman confirmed to The Tennessean. Dupree received a date to return to court and was released.
According to police, Dupree had an altercation with a 20-year-old male employee at a Walgreens on Jan. 2. After a verbal spat, police say Dupree grabbed the employee, who was filming the incident, and his phone. The employee was treated for a cut to his forehead and a female employee was treated for a cut on her hand, police said.
Dupree, 29, just completed the first season of a five-year, $82.5 million deal he signed with Tennessee last March. He played in 11 games (six starts) and contributed 17 tackles and three sacks for the AFC South champions.
A first-round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015, Dupree has played in 92 career games with 72 starts. He has 248 career tackles, 42.5 sacks and nine forced fumbles after playing his first six seasons in Pittsburgh.
