On Thursday, 15-time major champion Tiger Woods was added to the Masters Tournament field list, which is a positive sign that he will possibly be competing for his sixth green jacket next month.

The 48-year-old Woods is on the Masters website’s 2024 field list, and not among the past Champions player list, along with Couples, 64, who will be competing in his 39th Masters.

Woods has competed in the Masters 25 times and has made the cut in 23 consecutive starts at Augusta National, tying Fred Couples and Gary Player for most all-time. Furthermore, Tiger has turned those 25 starts into five wins, which came in 1997, 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2019.

The five Masters titles are second-most all-time and trail Jack Nicklaus by one green jacket.

When Woods captured his fifth green jacket five years ago, he recorded three birdies in a four-hole span in the middle of his final nine hole for not only fifth green jacket but in a fitting, comeback fashion. He defeated Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Xander Schauffele by one stroke.

Woods played all four rounds at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas back in December before withdrawing in the second round of The Genesis Invitational last month, not because of physical injuries, but due to contracting influenza.

“I would like to confirm that I had to withdraw from @thegenesisinv due to illness, which we now know is influenza,” Woods said Feb. 17 on X, which was the day after his second-round withdrawal. “I am resting and feeling better.”

As a result, seeing Woods’ name on the field list is a good sign for him gearing up and preparing for the hilly walk that the Masters bring at Augusta National.

The Masters is scheduled to begin with first round action on April 11 and conclude with final round action on April 14.
