Seahawks news: Troubled wide receiver Josh Gordon has been reinstated from suspension by the NFL after his latest violation of the league’s substance abuse policy. For Gordon, this might very well be his final chance to make it in the NFL.

According to Fox Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer, Gordon has been conditionally reinstated and is eligible to play in the Seahawks’ final two regular-season games as well as the playoffs.

This could very well be a shot in the arm for MVP candidate Russell Wilson and the 8-3 Seahawks down the stretch. Wilson is already making sweet music with second-year wide receiver D.K. Metcalf, who has caught 58 passes for 1,039 yards and nine touchdowns in 11 games.

Meanwhile, the reliable Tyler Lockett has tallied 70 catches for 771 yards and eight touchdowns while hauling in 76.1% of his passes through 11 games.

If Gordon can prove himself to the Seahawks during practice, he’ll likely slot in as the fourth option behind Metcalf, Lockett and Moore, providing Wilson with yet another major weapon.

That’s the major question mark given the former NFL leading receiver’s off-field history since he joined the NFL as a member of the Cleveland Browns back in 2012. Now 29, Gordon has had major substance abuse issues throughout his career.

2014: Suspended 10 games
2015: Suspended entire season
2016: Suspended four games
2017: Suspended first 11 games
2018: Suspended indefinitely
2019: Suspended indefinitely

All said, Gordon has suited up in a grand total of 24 regular-season games since the end of the 2014 NFL season. This Seahawks news comes with the team at 8-3 on the season and one game ahead of the Los Angeles Rams in the ultra-competitive NFC West.

If everything goes according to plan, Gordon will suit up Week 16 against the Los Angeles Rams and the Seahawks’ season finale against the division-rival San Francisco 49ers.
