Ryan Shazier believes his NFL story isn’t finished yet, but the chapter for the Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker’s 2018 season will be focused on recovering off the field.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert confirmed Shazier will not suit up next season.

Alex Kozora of the Steelers Depot added that Colbert called the linebacker “year-to-year.”

Shazier will remain a part of the organization, but the defense must replace a key player. The Ohio State product collected a personal-high 89 tackles last season before a spine injury abruptly ended his 2017 campaign — and potentially Shazier’s career.

Although he’s been released from rehab and is able to stand, his road to a return is extremely challenging. His father thinks this isn’t the last of Shazier in the NFL, but everybody needs to show patience with this difficult situation.
