Father of Ryan Shazier believes son will play again

Ever since he sustained a terrifying injury on December 4, the future of Ryan Shazier as a football player has taken a backseat to his overall health. But Vernon Shazier — the father of the Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker — believes that his son will be back on the field at some point.

“Yes, yes I do. I Shalieve. I Shalieve,” the elder Shazier said when asked if he thought Ryan would ever play again (per WPXI.com).

While Vernon feels that Ryan should be the one to give updates on his progress, it’s been revealed that the injured linebacker has feeling in his legs again. Shazier has since visited his team, both during practice and from the owner’s box during a game.

Obviously, there is a long way to go before Shazier can ever return to the NFL. But the progress he’s made in the month since his injury is certainly immense. It’s turned one of the more negative stories of the 2017 NFL season into a more uplifting one.
