Report: Seahawks release Richard Sherman

The inevitable has come to fruition. After a couple days of chatter that Richard Sherman would be released by the Seattle Seahawks, the deed reportedly has been done.

The move saves Seattle $11 million against the cap this year, which is huge for the cap-strapped Seahawks.

Sherman recently had a second surgery on his Achilles, meaning a trade was really not realistic as he could not pass a physical.

It’s going to be very interesting to see what happens next. Sherman will be 30 later this month. He’s had injuries to his lower body in each of his last two seasons. But he takes offense to any notion he’s slowing down.

When healthy, Sherman is still one of the top corners in the league, so he’ll likely receive plenty of interest when he’s healthy. And we know of at least one high-profile player on another contending NFC team that wants him on board in 2018.
