Report: Saints have ‘strong interest’ in reunion with Jimmy Graham

The New Orleans Saints and tight end Jimmy Graham reportedly have mutual interest in a reunion, three years after he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks. This was something that has been reported on recently, and on Monday Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reaffirmed the idea, noting “there is a lot of momentum toward this.”

The past three seasons in Seattle, Graham hasn’t had the type of impact for the Seahawks that he had playing with Drew Brees in New Orleans. He caught just 170 passes for 2,048 yards and 18 touchdowns. Which, for an average tight end really isn’t bad. But considering he averaged over 1,000 yards and double-digit touchdowns in his final four seasons with the Saints, it shows he never was a great fit in Seattle.

Perhaps landing Graham is the reason the Saints haven’t yet signed Brees to a contract — a potentially dangerous proposition. He can technically talk to other teams now as a free agent, but there’s a chance he’s holding off on signing in New Orleans so that the Saints can bring in more pieces to contend for a championship.
