The Philadelphia 76ers have already ruled star center Joel Embiid out for their huge matchup with the conference-rival Boston Celtics on Thursday.
Embiid suffered a gnarly looking dislocated finger in the team’s previous outing against the Oklahoma City Thunder Monday night.
He’s reportedly away from the team and seeing a specialist.
The last thing the Sixers and their fans want to see in the same sentence is Embiid and specialist.
It’s already well known that the All-Star center has suffered through multiple big-time injuries throughout his career. That included Embiid missing each of his first two NBA seasons with a foot ailment.
The hope here is that Embiid’s injury is not too serious.
The 25-year-old big man is averaging 23.4 points and 12.3 rebounds on 47% shooting from the field in what has been a down season by his standards.
