Since free agency kicked off, not much but crickets has been heard regarding quarterback Jay Cutler. The 33 year-old quarterback was released by the Chicago Bears on March 9.
Now, things are looking about as bleak as ever as far as Cutler finding another team to play for. According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, there is literally “zero” interest from other teams in Cutler.
On the other hand, several quarterbacks not named Cutler or Colin Kaepernick have been on the move. For starters, the Bears signed Mike Glennon shortly after releasing Cutler. Meanwhile, other teams in need of quarterbacks such as the San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets have signed Brian Hoyer and Josh McCown, respectively.
An intriguing team that has yet to do much to add a quarterback is the Houston Texans. They disposed of Brock Osweiler in trade to the Cleveland Browns. It was speculated that they might be making room for Tony Romo. But that has not happened as of yet on that story.
Right now, Cutler seems about as unlikely as Kap to land another job in the NFL.
He unfortunately is coming from one of least productive seasons ever due to multiple injuries that kept him sidelined 11 games. Retirement could be creeping closer for Cutler the longer he remains off the radar for potential teams in need.
