Sunday was no good for star wide receiver DeVonta Smith and his Philadelphia Eagles. They threw away a potential NFC East title and home-field advantage in the NFC Playoffs by losing at home to the previously three-win Arizona Cardinals.
Philadelphia’s defense came up small at the end as Kyler Murray led Arizona down the field for a game-wining touchdown. It was another brutal loss for Philadelphia.
But that is not the extent of it. Smith was seen leaving Lincoln Financial Field using crutches and with a walking boot on his right leg.
Here’s the play that Smith suffered the injury.
It’s not yet known how severe the inury is. Philadelphia will likely provide an update late on Sunday or early on Monday. But the fact that Smith was in crutches can’t be seen as a good thing.

DeVonta Smith stats (2023): 81 receptions, 1,066 yards, 6 TD
Smith, 25, caught just three passes for 30 yards in the loss. He struggled big time connecting with quarterback Jalen Hurts.
However, this injury has the potential to be season-defining for the struggling Eagles. By virtue of their loss and the San Francisco 49ers win, the Eagles are guaranteed to be playing in the wild card round in the NFL Playoffs.
If the Dallas Cowboys beat the Washington Commanders or Philadelphia loses to the New York Giants in Week 18, said game would be on the road against the NFC South winner.
