Patriots owner Robert Kraft has loaded, cryptic quote about Tom Brady divorce

As if it’s not weird enough that Tom Brady is moving on from the New England Patriots after 20 years, owner Robert Kraft has a very awkward take on the divorce.

Brady officially signed on the dotted line with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday morning. Afterward, Michael Giardi of NFL Network shared a quote from Kraft that, quite frankly, hints that it’s not all about Brady wanting to leave.

Here’s the loaded, somewhat cryptic quote from Kraft, via Giardi:

When I spoke to Robert Kraft, he made this analogy about Tom Brady's departure: "Think about loving your wife & for whatever reason, there’s something – her father or mother – that makes life impossible for you & you have to move on but you don’t want to." @nflnetwork #Patriots

Now, I’m not in the business of putting words into people’s mouths. So I won’t speculate about who, exactly, may be the “mother or father” in this scenario. But Kraft sure seems to be pointing the finger at someone other than Brady himself as the biggest reason the future Hall of Famer is moving on.

One day, perhaps, we’ll all get to find out the truth about why Brady left New England after winning six Super Bowls with Bill Belichick.
