This is a nice little holiday bonus for Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone.
Denver announced on Tuesday that it has signed the respected basketball man to a contract extension.
“We have been very fortunate to have Coach Malone lead our resurgence. His tireless work ethic and passion are clearly reflected in the continued improvement of our roster,” team president Tim Connelly said, via the team’s official website. “We are all extremely excited for him to continue to lead our team as we try to build a championship level organization.”
Hired prior to the start of the 2015-16 season, Malone has led a steady improvement in Mile High.
Denver currently sits at 21-8 after putting up a 54-28 record and a trip to the Western Conference Semifinals last season. It was the team’s first playoff appearance since back in 2012-13 under George Karl.
This extension reportedly takes Malone through the 2022-23 season. It’s pretty clear that the team views him as a long-term solution on the bench.
