The New York Yankees are expected to make an official decision on Aaron Boone’s future as skipper this week, and it is likely to disappoint fans unhappy with his performance in 2023.

While he has had a solid run with the team and led them to the MLB playoffs the previous five years, not winning a championship during those trips and barely finishing over .500 this season has some wondering if a change is necessary.

New York Yankees expected to announce Aaron Boone’s return this week
The standard for the Yankees franchise is always extremely high, but in an era with George Steinbrenner’s children running the organization, they are far less likely to make rash decisions when it comes to front office and managerial positions. That is not expected to change before 2024.
After the Monday reveal that the team planned to retain Boone’s hand-picked hitting coach Sean Casey, SNY MLB insider Andy Martino reported later that day the organization is expected to have a meeting of the brain trust on Wednesday, and Boone will be in attendance because he is expected back with the team next season.
Boone has one year left on his contract and Martino claims “the only way Boone’s fate could change is if those Tampa meetings somehow go so sideways that they end in a surprise firing. No one expects that to happen.”
Aaron Boone has a 509-361 record since taking over as New York Yankees manager in 2018.
