The idea of the New York Giants seriously considering the addition of Aaron Rodgers this offseason seems absurd to many fans. However, a notable reporter for the team added more fuel to the speculation this week.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are feeling serious pressure this offseason. After an impressive debut three years ago, they have delivered a pair of losing years. Including a 3-14 finish in 2024. Simply put, if New York isn’t better in 2025 they will be fired.

While they have several holes to fill on the roster, none is more important than at quarterback. Former first-round pick Daniel Jones gave the regime hope he could be a productive starter after a breakout season in 2022. However, the last two seasons proved that was a mirage and the organization needs to find a new starter this year.
The assumption for months has been the organization would use their top pick in April’s NFL Draft for a potential franchise QB. But reports last month pointed to an internal preference to add a proven veteran QB as well. That’s why the team went hard to complete a trade for two-time Pro Bowler Matthew Stafford last week. Unfortunately for Big Blue, Stafford chose to stay in Los Angeles in 2025.
There have also been surprising rumblings NFL legend Aaron Rodgers could be an option after two failed seasons for the New York Jets. However, such a move always seemed far-fetched. Well, that may no longer be the case.
New York Giants signing Aaron Rodgers a real possibility this month?

In a new report this week, NorthJersey.com New York Giants reporter Art Stapleton suggested Rodgers will be under serious consideration by the team’s front office. He claimed the four-time MVP has gone “from an option closer to a ‘last resort'” at the combines last week to a real possibility following the team’s failure to land Stafford.
“The Giants are not ruling out anything with regard to their quarterback pursuit, and that includes Rodgers and Russell Wilson,” Stapleton wrote. “As of last Wednesday, Rodgers had not reached out to the Giants personally despite reported rumors and the Giants had yet to talk to him, according to two individuals with knowledge of the situation. The message was apparently sent, however: Rodgers was interested.”
- Aaron Rodgers stats (2024): 3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 63.0 completion %, 90.5 passer rating
Furthermore, the Giants reporter made a case for why Aaron Rodgers is a good option at QB because even as a lesser version of himself he still offers more than what the team has gotten from the position the last few seasons.
“Rodgers threw for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns with 11 interceptions (in 2024). The Giants have not had those numbers from their quarterback in a while. Yardage ( Eli Manning had 4,299 in 2018) and touchdown passes (Manning had 35 in 2015),” he wrote. “From a football perspective, there is no better choice on the market than Rodgers for the Giants.”
