Former NBA player Drew Gordon, brother of Nuggets’ Aaron Gordon, dies in car accident

Drew Gordon, who played for the Philadelphia 76ers organization from 2014-’15 and is the brother of Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon, passed away on Thursday at the age of 33 years old.

Gordon, a 6-foot-9 power forward, played college basketball at UCLA (2008-’09) and New Mexico (2010-’12) before going undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft. The California native then played overseas, first with KK Partizan in Serbia (2012-’13) then with stints in Sardinia and Turkey before making his way to the NBA.

In addition to playing in 9 career regular-season games with the 76ers, Gordon played for the team’s G-League affiliate formerly known as the Delaware 87ers. After a stint the the 87ers, Gordon resumed his international basketball career with stints in France, Lithuania, Russia, Poland, Ukraine and Fukuoka from 2014-’23.

Gordon was a McDonald’s All-American coming out of Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, California.

As reported by ESPN, Gordon died in a car accident in Portland, Oregon. No details on the crash were provided. After averaging 4.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game with the UCLA Bruins, Gordon excelled with New Mexico and averaged 13.4 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game in 61 career contests.

Gordon is survived by his wife and their three children along with his parents, Ed and Shelly Gordon.
