Update: DiBenedetto took to social media this week to provide transparency on the deal that fell apart.
“I’m sitting here thinking about it, and the other day when I posted and gave you guys an update I was treading lightly because it was all fresh and just got back from and stuff but further update, not that it matters,” DiBenedetto said. “But I was like be truthful with you guys. The reality of it was we had a signed pretty big sponsor deal and they lied. And didn’t follow through on their end so that’s why we had to pull the plug.”
He still says he’s not asking for pity.
“Anyways unfortunate but just like in racing..[…]..got to live life that way and I’m in peace with it all,” he said. “Everything will work out but either way I just want to be truthful and honest with you guys.”

It appears that whatever Matt DiBenedetto felt he had secured to race something at some point in 2024 has fallen apart.
DiBenedetto, who parted ways with Rackley WAR in the Truck Series before the season ended and after a two-year stint, teased earlier in the winter that he had signed something. He posted a tweet of the pen emoji, which has become the de fact way to suggest that a deal had come together.
After a few weeks of silence, DiBenedetto says he is back to a holding pattern.
“Getting ready for 2024 (and) wanted to give you guys a delayed update,” Matt DiBenedetto said via a social media post. “I appreciate your guys’ patience. It’s been a crazy few weeks. For those who are not patient and were starting to get a little hostile with us. I was not leaving you guys in the dark.
“Either way, it’s all good.
“It’s been a crazy few weeks. We had a sponsor deal that we decided to pull the plug on and move forward from. Everything will work out exactly how it’s supposed to. Our life is good. Please don’t feel bad for us. There’s nothing to feel bad about.
“We’re going to have to let racing stuff for 2024 play out. Part-time, whatever opportunities fall our way. Sorry for not giving you better news than that. But, it always will all work out exactly how it’s supposed to.”
DiBenedetto has been a definition journeyman driver in NASCAR over the past decade. He raced for underfunded GoFas Racing but left them in 2018, saying he was betting on himself, landing at Leavine Family Racing right before it landed a deal with Toyota.
He also had two years in Cup with the Wood Brother but did not win a race, making one playoff appearance. He raced in the Truck Series for Rackley and won in 2022 at Talladega and made the playoffs in 2023.
