We often hear about golfers, whether they’re professionals or amateurs, stressing the importance of not missing their tee time. Golfers orchestrate their whole day, week, and even month, around ensuring they’re ready when it’s time to tee off.

Lucas Glover found out what happens when you miss your tee time the hard way during the WM Phoenix Open on Thursday.

Lucas Glover was set for a tee time of 10:26 am, or 8:26 am on Arizona time, where the WM Phoenix Open is held. Yet, Glover never made it to the green after reportedly misreading a text detailing his tee time.

Glover says he was still in his hotel room when he received a phone call from a WM Phoenix Open official, just one minute ahead of his tee time. Obviously, this was not nearly enough time to gather his equipment and get to the golf course.

Glover’s tardiness led to first alternate Ryo Hisatsune taking over his spot in the field for the WM Phoenix Open.

It’s embarrassing to be late to anything, especially at work, but Glover’s able to laugh it all off.

“I’m kicking myself but laughing at myself at the same time.”
