Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid entered Monday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs having put up some dominating performances this season. That includes two games with 50 points or more earlier in the season.

None of that compared to what we saw from the reigning NBA MVP against the Spurs. The dude dropped a single-game franchise record 70 points in a 133-123 win. In the process, he broke Wilt Chamberlain’s record.

Embiid shot an absurd 24-of-41 from the field and 21-23 from the free-throw line. The star center was on one all night long in Philadelphia. It was something to behold.

Fans inside Wells Fargo Center were going absolutely nuts as Embiid made history. The place was as electric as all get out.

Embiid entered Monday night’s game leading the league in scoring at 35.0 points per game. He was averaging 38.3 points over his previous 15 outings. We have not seen a dominating stretch like this in some time around the Association.

It wasn’t just fans and writers who were in awe of what Embiid did against San Antonio Monday night. Star players and colleagues also took to social media to show their respect.

It started with Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.

The great Pau Gasol also had something to say about what Joel Embiid did.

Others joined in, too. That included Philadelphia 76ers front office head Daryl Morey.
