While many Dallas Cowboys fans were frustrated with the team’s poor performance on the road against the Buffalo Bills in Week 15, the team’s owner wasn’t so broken up and actually praised his coaching staff.
Heading into Sunday the Dallas Cowboys were on an absolute tear. They had won five straight, scored over 40 points three times, and found themselves in a first-place tie with 2022 NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles. However, the hot streak was completely derailed in a 31-10 defeat at Highmark Stadium this weekend.

The vaunted Cowboys defense gave up 31 points, and James Cook obliterated them on the ground as he rushed for 179 yards on just 25 carriers. Furthermore, the Dallas offense that was on fire for several weeks was completely shut down as Dak Prescott barely threw for over 130 yards and likely 2023 All-Pro CeeDee Lamb was a nonfactor.
While the loss isn’t the end of the world, it was a new installment in a worrisome trend for the ‘Boys this season. All four of their losses this year have come on the road and in three of those instances, the games were not very close.

Another road defeat could be a reason for owner Jerry Jones to admit his concern, but that wasn’t at all the case during his weekly spot on Dallas’ 105.3 The Fan radio station. In fact, Jones was actually complimentary of head coach Mike McCarthy and his staff when asked about his thoughts following his team’s ugly loss on Sunday.

“Well, [McCarthy’s] coached three playoff teams in a row. I think he’s done an outstanding job. I think the fact that he’s your offensive coordinator, as well as head coach, puts him as high or higher stead than when he was the walk-around coach. I frankly said to the staff yesterday, ‘You got us in this spot to be as disappointed as we are about the Buffalo deal and our loss there. It’s your fault because y’all have done such a great job this year getting our team to where we, our fans, everybody have the expectations that we have.
“You pushed us up here to where we get out here and play great the next three weeks and we could absolutely have something great happen for us. Now you all caused us to be disappointed here on Monday by not living to that standard up there, but hats off to you.’ In other words, I didn’t spend my day in there looking grumpy or however you might look, even though we were all disappointed. The best part of our team this year has been the coaching staff.”
