Jaguars reportedly interested in QB Teddy Bridgewater

It’s long been a foregone conclusion that the Jacksonville Jaguars will ultimately sign Nick Foles once free agency opens up on March 13.

In fact, recent reports suggest that’s almost a done deal despite the fact that teams can’t even start negotiating with impending free agents until Monday.

Now, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter (h/t Brian Jackson of News 4 in Jacksonville), Foles to the Jaguars is not a done deal. Equally as noteworthy, Jacksonville is considering former Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

About four years younger than his more-veteran counterpart, the 26-year-old Bridgewater would seem to be a longer-term option in Duval than Foles.

At issue here is body of work. A former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2014, Bridgewater has thrown a combined 25 regular season passes since the end of the 2015 campaign. Remember, he suffered a devasting leg injury during the summer of 2016.

As it is, any guarantee that Foles will be heading to Jacksonville can now reportedly be thrown out the window.

The Jags did save about $30 million against the cap by releasing four key veterans on Friday. That comes with the team eyeing a replacement for Blake Bortles under center.
