Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo ruled out after suffering ugly looking injury

It was earlier this week that two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo had people scared when he went down with an apparent knee injury in the Milwaukee Bucks’ win over the Boston Celtics.

The Greak Freak remained in the game and didn’t seem to have any real problems moving forward.

Fast forward two days, and there’s more concern over Antetokounmpo’s health. Early in the second quarter of Thursday’s game against the Chicago Bulls, Giannis fell to the hardwood in a ton of pain after attempting a chase down block on Bulls guard Coby White. As you will see in the video below, Antetokounmpo was in a ton of pain.

That’s not something anyone wants to see happen to one of the Association’s best players. The fact that this came in Milwaukee’s final game ahead of the NBA All-Star Break adds another layer to that.

Almost immediately, Giannis Antetokounmpo headed to the locker room holding his wrist. It doesn’t look like the pain had subsided at all from his initial fall on the hardwood in Chicago. Still photos of the injury didn’t look great, either. This comes with Giannis in the midst of an otherworldly stretch of action.

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo stats (past 22 games): 34.5 PPG, 13.5 RPG, 5.6 APG, 55% shooting

In what can’t be seen as good news, the Bucks almost immediately ruled Giannis out for the remainder of the game with what the team is describing as a right wrist sprain. He’ll obviously undergo an MRI at some point soon to determine whether he suffered a more serious injury.

We’ll have further updates once they become available. For now, everyone is hoping for the best.
