NFL insider reveals Denver Broncos 1 untouchable player before expected fire sale before trade deadline

While many around the NFL believe the Denver Broncos will have a fire sale before the Oct. 31 trade deadline, it looks like there is at least one star player that will be off-limits.

Many hoped that former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton was the man to right the Denver Broncos ship and bring them back to prominence in 2023. However, it could be argued that this season’s team is performing even worse than the group that got former head coach Nathaniel Hackett fired during the 2022 season.

With the team entering their Week 6 games against rivals the Kansas City Chiefs with a 1-4 record, there is little hope and a growing belief around the NFL that the organization will be big sellers before the trade deadline. Especially after they showed a desire to shake things up when they traded Randy Gregory last week, less than a year after giving a $70 million contract.

On Wednesday, ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano gave an update on the situation, the players they could likely move, and the stars who will probably stay.

  • Patrick Surtain II stats (2022): 60 tackles, 2 INT, 10 PD

“Teams I talk to believe the Broncos will listen to offers for Jerry Jeudy or Courtland Sutton, as well as players on defense,” Graziano wrote. “They’re not interested in parting with star cornerback Pat Surtain II, as they see him as a building block, and nobody’s trading for [Russell] Wilson’s contract.”

In his second season with the franchise in 2022, Surtain II earned Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors as he has quickly become one of the top cornerbacks in the league, so it is understandable why the Broncos wouldn’t want to move him.
