Bruce Arians: Buccaneers still undecided on Jameis Winston

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a huge decision to make concerning Jameis Winston, the former No. 1 overall pick who is set to be a free agent. Speaking to reporters Friday, head coach Bruce Arians made it clear the team is still not ready to make it.

Citing the fluidity of the coming free-agency legal tampering period, Arians highlighted why the team is still undecided.

“Really nothing has changed,” Arians said, per the Tampa Bay Times. “You get about three days to decide. The legal tampering period. Is somebody going to get let go? What’s the trade values? It’s really monotonous right now because you don’t have any answers.”

Winston, of course, is coming off a season in which he set a record that nobody ever wanted. His turnover problems continued to manifest throughout the campaign and were crystallized in the mind of Arians and the organization during the final week of the regular season.

There’s a chance the Buccaneers could bring Winston back in 2020, either on a long-term deal or via the franchise tag. But at this point, the Bucs are being connected to other quarterbacks far more often than Winston, and there is one in particular who appears to be the favorite as free agency approaches.
