About six weeks after signing former AL Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel, the veteran will officially make his Atlanta Braves debut Friday evening.
Mere hours before their game against the division-rival Nationals, the Braves made the announcement.
Keuchel, 31, had been honing his skills down in the minors over the past several weeks. He posted a 1.93 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in two starts against lower-level competition in Single-A and Double-A.
The two-time All-Star last pitched for the Houston Astros back in 2018, posting a 12-11 record with a 3.74 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 34 starts.
Keuchel will now be relied on to fill out a top-heavy rotation for a Braves team that enters this weekend’s action at 44-31 and in first place in the NL East.
