A new study of ticket prices for MLB teams in 2024 found that the New York Mets and Chicago White Sox are offering affordable prices in big cities. While Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers tickets are price gauging their fans at an elite level this year.
We are just a couple of weeks away from MLB Opening Day on March 28, so interest in the new season is at an all-time high. With fans around North America hopeful about what their teams could do in 2024, they are sure to be looking at purchasing tickets to an upcoming game to see their favorite team in person.

With MLB having the longest season among the big four pro sports in North America, tickets come at a better rate than for leagues like the NFL that only have eight home games per season. It leads to big business for various ticket-selling outlets and one, in particular, took a hard look at their prices for the upcoming season and found some interesting results.
On Thursday, Gametime.com revealed the median ticket prices for tickets already sold for all 30 Major League teams’ home games this season and it showed — unsurprisingly — that the Los Angeles Dodgers have the most expensive average prices at $112. They were followed by the Arizona Diamondbacks ($96), the Atlanta Braves ($98), the defending champion Texas Rangers ($95), and the Houston Astros ($93).
Average New York Mets tickets in 2024 are just $53
One surprising piece of data was that the Boston Red Sox, a team that has finished dead last in the American League East the last two years are charging their loyal fans an average of $85 per ticket, which is the seventh highest on Gametime.
On the flip side, a big market club like the New York Mets has an average price of $53, which lands as the sixth lowest in the league on the third-party ticket site. The Mets are only two years removed from a 101-win season but after a dismal year in 2023, it is only fair that their prices are more reasonable.

The three lowest average prices are Miami Marlins tickets ($29), Detroit Tigers tickets ($30), and Chicago White Sox tickets ($36). The full results can be found below.
