All Elite Wrestling, the No. 2 pro wrestling promotion in the land, is open to the idea of bringing in one of the most athletic players in NFL history, Cam Newton, to test their skills inside the squared circle in 2024.

Cam Newton was one of the most impressive athletes that has ever competed on the gridiron. Standing 6-foot-5 and over 240 pounds, he had the build of a prototypical NFL quarterback. However, he broke the mold from previous players of his size with uncanny speed and agility that made him one of the greatest dual threats the position has ever seen.

It’s why he won a Heisman Trophy during his legendary run at Auburn and would go on to win an NFL MVP for the Carolina Panthers in 2015. At 34 years old and with a lot of wear and tear on his body, it looks like the 11-year veteran’s days in the NFL may be over. However, he is still in the type of shape where other athletic endeavors are a possibility

With his future in professional football unclear, Cam Newton has transitioned into a burgeoning podcast career with his “4th and 1 with Cam Newton” show. During a recent edition of the podcast on Media Row before the Super Bowl, the three-time Pro Bowler spoke with All Elite Wrestling co-founder and CEO Tony Khan, and the Jacksonville Jaguars executive revealed his interest in having Newton compete for his promotion.

“Now that you’re not playing I should try to get you for AEW and the wrestling ring. I want to do it,” Khan said. To which Newton responded by saying, “I will not say I won’t do anything ever. So, there’s a chance.”

AEW has had quite a few celebrities appear on its airwaves since the company debuted in 2019, including Rosario Dawson, Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, and Steve-O. However, the most notable that has competed in the ring is Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal when he was part of a 2021 tag team match featuring popular wrestlers Cody Rhodes and Jade Cargill — both have since left the company to join WWE.
