NFL players have joined millions of people across the United States peacefully protesting against police brutality and calling for social justice reform. On Tuesday, one of those players was arrested and charged with a felony.
Houston Texans WR Kenny Stills arrested, faces felony charge after protesting
According to the Louisville Courier Journal’s Lucas Aulbach, Houston Texans wide receiver Kenny Stills is among 87 protestors who were arrested and now facing felony charges following a protest in Louisville.
Stills, along with countless peaceful protestors in Kentucky, marched towards Attorney General Daniel Cameron’s home to demand justice for Breonna Taylor, who was shot and killed by police while sleeping in May.
The protestors stood on Cameron’s lawn, when he called police to report them for trespassing. When 87 of the demonstrators refused, they were arrested and charged.
Stills is now facing one felony charged of intimidating a participant in the legal process, along with misdemeanor charges for disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing. He will face arraignment on Wednesday morning.
Given head coach Bill O’Brien has vowed to kneel in protest with players during the national anthem and has spoken out about the killing of George Floyd, it seems likely Stills will receive his team’s support.
