Young New York Giants cornerback Deandre Baker remains in hot water off the field mere days after his arrest on four counts of armed robbery and four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.
A first-round pick of the Giants last year, Baker faces a possible 60 years in prison stemming from the aggravated assault charges alone.
Appearing in a Miramar court in Florida on Tuesday, Baker has plead not guilty on all eight charges.
This was expected. While Baker has apologized to the Giants and remains away from off-season activities, he’s also maintaining his innocence.
There’s a lot more that will come out on this front over the next several days and weeks. For now, Baker’s innocent plea seems to suggest a criminal trial could be in the cards.
We’ll have more on this story as further information becomes available.
