New York Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker was released on bond Sunday. Baker turned himself in after being charged on eight counts that could result in up to 60 years in federal prison.
He is accused of armed robbery at a party in Florida.
DeAndre Baker officially released, issues apology
Sunday evening, he was officially released on bond after posting $25,000 Sunday morning, per Art Stapleton of North Jersey. Bail was set at $200,000. As part of his release, Baker has been ordered to surrender his concealed firearm permit within 48 hours. Additionally, he has been ordered to stay away from the alleged victims.
In a statement released by his lawyer, Patrick G. Patel, Baker apologized for “the distractions that this event has caused to Deandre’s team, teammates and the NFL community.”
Baker has said he is innocent of all charges.
In the meantime, the second-year cornerback (first-round pick in 2019) has been reportedly told by the Giants to remain away from virtual team meetings.
