Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger recently started throwing a football again for the first time since season-ending elbow surgery last season. Apparently, he continues to make excellent progress in his rehab.
Speaking to fans during a conference call Monday, Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said Roethlisberger’s rehab is going well.
“So far, so good,” Colbert said, per triblive.com. “All indications from Ben himself in communication with our doctors and with our trainers and the bits of video that we’ve seen him throw earlier in the spring are all encouraging,” Colbert said. “We haven’t seen him throw live because he hasn’t been in our building. He’s only been in the building for rehab checks with doctors and trainers.”
The reason Big Ben can’t do more than that for the Steelers is that all NFL facilities, barring stuff like rehab checkups, are shut down during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
However, the quarterback recently commented about his own progress and said he’s throwing without pain for the first time in years. That has to be very good news for the Steelers and their fans. As for any timeline for full clearance, Roethlisberger recently divulged he’s still a couple months away.
