Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Tony Pollard has been incredibly efficient and dangerous so far in preseason play, which has been an interesting wrinkle in the Ezekiel Elliott holdout situation.
Pollard played so well in the team’s second preseason game that owner Jerry Jones quipped “Zeke who?” chatting up members of the media after the game. Elliott reportedly was not amused by the joke, with his agent reportedly telling ESPN he felt “disrespected” by it.
Should Elliott continue his holdout into the regular season, Pollard believes he can live up to the hype Jones has helped create.
For what it’s worth, we’re not expecting Elliott to stay away from the Cowboys once the regular season arrives. One way or another — with a new deal or not — he will likely play for the ‘Boys in 2019.
Still, Pollard has done enough that we expect he’ll have a role to play for Dallas this year, regardless.
