A lot of information has come out of New Jersey since the New York Giants embarrassed themselves at home Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. Following that 51-17 beat down, one report suggested that it would be a shock if the Giants retained head coach Ben McAdoo for the 2018 season.
Immediately after that, one anonymous Giants played called out McAdoo in a big way — something that defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo indicated was fake news (more on that here).
ESPN’s Dan Graziano is now reporting that the Giants don’t plan to make any coaching or personnel changes during the season.
“According to a source, the New York Giants do not plan to make any decisions on changes to the coaching staff or front office until after the season,” Graziano reported. “The source says Giants ownership looks at recent anonymous comments by players as normal griping during a losing season, and those comments will not affect ownership’s preference to let the season play out and judge it as a 16-game whole.”
That’s all fine and dandy. It’s likely nothing more than spin from the Giants’ front office as a way to tone down the drama that has surrounded the organization thus far this season. In no way does it mean that McAdoo and his staff will last the entire season.
New York embarrassed itself in front of its home crowd last week. It’s now set to take on a winless San Francisco 49ers team on Sunday. Should the Giants fail to win this game, there will be more chirping about McAdoo’s status.
