Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III is eager for another chance to prove himself as a starter before the season is up. The oft-injured passer told reporters Monday that he’s healing up nicely and hopes to play again this season for Cleveland.
“We’ve got six games left this year, a chance to finish strong, and if I get a chance to be a part of that, I definitely want to,” Griffin said, via the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
At this point, it’s hard to know if Hue Jackson is interested in playing RG3 again or if he’d rather continue to see what Cody Kessler has to offer. After all, he rolled with Kessler when he passed concussion protocol, even with a healthy Josh McCown available a couple weeks back.
The Browns are currently winless and appear destined to finish the season without a single victory.
Right now, it wouldn’t surprise us either way if Jackson went with RG3 to close out the season if he is cleared for action. After all, RG3 did sign a two-year deal with the Browns, and perhaps Jackson would like to know before next year if he actually has something in the former Rookie of the Year.
Before injuring his shoulder and being placed on IR, Griffin had a miserable game against the Philadlephia Eagles, completing just 46.2 percent of his passes for 190 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.
