Bears place wide receiver Kevin White on injured reserve

Any expectation that Chicago Bears wide receiver Kevin White would have a breakout sophomore campaign can now be thrown out the window.

The former first-round pick was placed on injured reserve by the Bears on Wednesday, forcing him out of action for at least the next two months.

White apparently suffered a severe high-ankle sprain that resulted in a fractured fibula during the team’s win over the Detroit Lions this past weekend.

This comes on the heels of the Bears fearing earlier in the day that White would be out for an extended period of time (more on that here).

The 2015 top-10 pick missed his entire rookie season after suffering a stress fracture in his tibia.

With White now sidelined, the expectation here has to be that Eddie Royal will take on a larger role for a revamped Bears offense that’s likely going to future Brian Hoyer under center for the foreseeable future.

Royal recorded seven receptions for 111 yards and a score in last week’s win over Detroit.
