Brandon Marshall mocks Dolphins for Byron Maxwell trade

Brandon Marshall

Brandon Marshall is excited about the reported trade that would send cornerback Byron Maxwell from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Miami Dolphins. From his perspective, what Miami is doing right now can only benefit him and the New York Jets this upcoming season, and he’s probably not wrong.

Just after posting a hilarious message to his own team on Instagram in which he playfully begs the Jets to bring back quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick (you have to see this), he was at it again.

Marshall posted this Instagram picture after the news broke that the Eagles were dealing Maxwell and linebacker Kiko Alonso to the Dolphins for undisclosed draft picks.

The caption underneath the picture hilariously reads: “More Man Coverage?”

This alludes to Miami’s ridiculous decision to try and cover Marshall one-on-one in a man scheme last year, using Brent Grimes to try and stop him all by himself during the game in London. Marshall caught seven passes for 128 yards in that game. He followed it up with a nine-catch performance in which he gained 131 yards and two touchdowns against the Dolphins later in the year.

Marshall isn’t wrong to mock the Dolphins for this move.

Miami is reportedly set to cut Grimes, who was actually the team’s best cover corner last year, and is going to replace him with one of the worst cornerbacks in the NFL.

Of course, there are rumors that the Dolphins are trying to go after Adam Jones, but really that’s not going to end well either. Jones is already 32 years old and will soon be unable to perform at the high level that will earn him his final payday this season.

Regardless of what Miami does, Marshall is likely going to be happy with the results.

Trading for Maxwell, who was atrocious last year, and his unbelievably bad contract proves the Dolphins are clueless about how to build a winner. Of course, we knew that last year when they dumped a metric ton of guaranteed cash in the lap of Ndamukong Suh expecting that deal to put them over the top in the AFC East.
