When the New York Yankees run onto the field at Minute Maid Park for Game 1 of the ALCS, Masahiro Tanaka will take the hill for New York looking to build off his playoff excellence.
Tanaka dominated the Minnesota Twins in Game 2 of the ALDS with seven strikeouts and only three hits allowed across five innings. He’ll now enter Saturday’s start with an outstanding 1.54 ERA and 4-2 record in six career postseason starts.
The 30-year-old righty is scheduled to face Houston’s No. 3 starter Zack Greinke. While Greinke will have the home crowd on his side, he enters with a 4.58 ERA over 12 career starts in the playoffs.
