New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman is approaching this year’s trade deadline with an open mind to nearly every team and idea that could improve New York’s chance of winning a World Series. Well, every idea except for one.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Cashman revealed the team’s deadline approach is fairly simple. New York its fully engaged withe every team around the league except for the Boston Red Sox.
It’s a hilarious and also truthful response by one of the top general managers in the business. The two rivals haven’t made a trade with each other since 2014 and that was the only deal between the two clubs in the last 40 years.
Cashman will certainly be aggressive at this year’s trade deadline given New York’s deep farm system and the team’s strong need for upgrades to its rotation. Just don’t expect any of those upgrades to come from Boston.
