After missing more than two months with numerous injuries, New York Yankees All-Star outfielder Giancarlo Stanton could return to the lineup in the very near future.

Speaking to reports on Thursday, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Stanton will play at Triple-A Scranton this weekend and could rejoin New York on Tuesday if all goes well.

If Stanton is able to clear the final medical hurdles and return, it couldn’t come at a better time for the club. A return on Tuesday would be just in time for a huge homestead against the Tampa Bay Rays and Houston Astros next week.

New York holds a 0.5 game lead over the Rays in the A.L. East entering Thursday and is just 3.5 games back of Houston to be tied atop the entire league with the Minnesota Twins.

The Yankees have kept finding ways to stay in the thick of a competitive A.L. race even without their top sluggers. Now with Stanton likely due back next week and Aaron Judge improving, a great team is only going to get better from here.
