Wizards’ C Dwight Howard traded to Grizzlies

Just days after trading for former All-Star Andre Iguodala, the Memphis Grizzlies struck again on the trade market by acquiring former All-Star center Dwight Howard from the Washington Wizards.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Memphis is sending forward C.J. Miles to the Wizards in exchange for Howard. According to the report, Memphis plans to either trade or waive Howard.

The move will reportedly save the Grizzlies $3.1 million off of the salary cap this season. Howard is entering the final year of his contract and is set to be owed $5.6 million for the 2019-’20 season.

He appeared in just nine games for the Wizards last season after undergoing back surgery in November. Across nine contest, Howard averaged 12.8 points, 9.2 rebounds and 0.4 blocks per games.

Miles is owed $8.7 million next season and appeared in 53 games between the Toronto Raptors and Grizzlies during the 2018-’19 season.
