The Chicago White Sox traded right-handed reliever Gregory Santos to the Seattle Mariners on Saturday for right-hander Prelander Berroa, outfielder Zach DeLoach and a Competitive Balance B draft selection.

Chicago also made a deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks, sending away minor league right-hander Cristian Mena and landing outfielder Dominic Fletcher.

Santos, 24, went 2-2 with a 3.39 ERA and five saves in 60 appearances for the White Sox in 2023 in his first full major league season.

“Gregory is coming off of a season in which he established himself as one of the most exciting young relievers in MLB,” Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto said in a statement.

“His combination of high velocity, dynamic slider and groundball inducing style are all standout traits.”

Berroa, 23, made two relief appearances for Seattle last season and didn’t allow a run in 1 2/3 innings. He also went 5-1 with a 2.89 ERA in 43 appearances (five starts) at Double-A Arkansas.

DeLoach, 25, had 23 homers and 88 RBIs and batted .286 in 138 games for Triple-A Tacoma last season.

The pick that went to Chicago is No. 69 overall in the 2024 draft.

In the deal with the Diamondbacks, the White Sox are talking a chance on the 26-year-old Fletcher, who batted .301 with two homers and 14 RBIs in 28 major league games last season. Fletcher batted .291 with 10 homers and 45 RBIs in 66 games for Triple-A Reno.

Mena, 21, went 8-7 with a 4.85 ERA in 27 starts split between Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte.

Chicago also designated right-hander Lane Ramsey for assignment. Ramsey went 1-0 with a 5.85 ERA in 21 appearances for Chicago last season.
