The Tennessee Titans met for their first set of OTA’s Monday. Already showing off his mobility is new quarterback Marcus Mariota whose speed caught the attention of linebacker Zach Brown (via the Tennessean).
“He is faster than I thought. He is an athletic quarterback. He didn’t win the Heisman for nothing.
One time he took off — I was guarding (tight end) Delanie (Walker) — and I turned around and I was like, ‘Where is he?’ He is fast. He impressed me. He is still a rookie and he has to learn, but he is a cool guy. I haven’t seen him get frustrated yet.”
Mariota, the second overall pick in the NFL Draft, took the first-team reps over quarterback Zach Mettenberger and connected for multiple passes downfield and one interception. Describing the practice session himself, Mariota said it was “definitely different” and “a lot faster” than anything he experienced playing college football.

While it appears the Titans plan is to start Mariota come Week 1, Mettenberger has claimed it would be a “fight to the death” before he would vacate the starting role.
