In the fourth quarter of a blowout game with West Virginia leading Texas Tech 41-10, back-to-back targeting penalties were called, resulting in the disqualification of Texas Tech offensive lineman Justin Murphy and West Virginia defensive back Maurice Fleming.
One play after Justin Murphy was ejected for a targeting penalty following a pass to Keke Coutee, West Virginia’s Maurice Fleming answers back with a targeting penalty on Tech wide receiver Cameron Batson.

After an initial no-call, the play was reviewed by the booth and Fleming was subsequently ejected.
As a result, both Justin Murphy and Maurice Fleming will have to sit out the first half of their respective games next week, as their ejections for targeting occurred in the second half of today’s game.
Following Fleming’s penalty and ejection, Texas Tech scored on a Nick Shimonek touchdown pass to wide receiver Jonathan Giles, bringing the score to 41-17 in favor of the Mountaineers.
