Madison Square Garden is the Mecca of basketball and when one of the NBA’s all-time stars, Atlanta Hawks guard Vince Carter, stepped on it for the final time on Tuesday night, he received a deserving honor.
The moment Carter’s name was announced, everyone in the arena stood up and celebrated Carter as he took the court in his final game at MSG. It was clear it meant a lot to Carter as he looked around the arena and thanked everyone for the support.
Fittingly, the 42-year-old then went back to work playing the game he loves. Carter pulled out the pump fake to fool a defender, then fired up and sunk the three-point shot.
While the veteran doesn’t see as much time on the court in his 22nd season in the NBA, he still brings his energy on the court and lets fans be in the same building as one of the game’s most exciting players in history.
