The Minnesota Twins are going to absolutely demolish the single-season MLB home run mark when all is said and done this fall. That’s not even in question.
However, the first-place squad decided to use Thursday’s game against the Chicago White Sox to break two other MLB HR marks.
Jake Cave and C.J. Cron hit back-to-back homers in the third inning of Thursday’s game against Chicago at Guaranteed Rate Field. They represented the Twins’ 139th and 140th road homers on the season.
That’s a new record.
The crazy thing here is that Minnesota still has 16 games remaining on the road. Sixteen games.
With those two homers, the Twins have also knocked 26 balls out of the stadium in Chicago. That’s the most for an opposing team since it opened back in 1991.
Minnesota is now on pace to hit 320 homers on the season. Is that good?
