WATCH: Tua Tagovailoa throws pick-six on opening possession

The Alabama Crimson Tide started out the National Championship Game in grand fashion, holding Clemson to a three-and-out.

Unfortunately for Alabama, its first offensive series of the game didn’t go as swimmingly. Heisman runner-up Tua Tagovailoa threw an interception into the hands of Clemson cornerback A.J. Terrell, who returned it 44 yards for the game-opening score.

The pass itself was absolutely terrible. Tua was attempting a simple out to the receiver. Instead, Terrell jumped the route and went the other way for the score.

These are mistakes we have not seen from Tagovailoa during his two-year run with the Crimson Tide. And it put the team in the hole big time Monday night at Levi’s Stadium.

Meanwhile, Clemson fans the world over were celebrating.
