Just a few weeks after being benched in favor of Ryan Tannehill, quarterback Marcus Mariota took the practice field on Thursday in a now role – wide receiver.
Mariota, who ran a 4.52 40-time at the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine, took a few reps at wide receiver during practice and even caught a pass from Tannehill.
The 26-year-old’s athleticism is certainly appealing, though, it seems like the only reason a potential move could be made. Across 62 games in the NFL, Mariota has been targeted three times and hauled in two receptions for 62 receiving yards. He did reel in a 41-yard touchdown in 2015 on a trick play.
While the Titans are certainly in need of new ideas to wake up their offense and create bigger plays in the passing game, this move would be unlikely to work.
