At a time when jaw-dropping catches are becoming the norm every week, South Carolina Gamecocks receiver Bryan Edwards just made a grab that no one will ever forget.
Trailing 17-14 with only seconds remaining before halftime, Gamecocks quarterback Ryan Hilinski tossed the football in Edwards’ direction right before getting blasted. Edwards made the hit worth it for his quarterback as he reached above the defensive back’s head to make a one-handed snag before coming down at the one-yard line.
It’s one thing if Edwards made a leaping catch over the defender and it’s even more absurd any time a player makes a one-handed catch. Edwards did the incredible by accomplishing all of that on a wild throw and getting both feet down along the sideline in a clutch situation.
Really, it’s only unfortunate that he didn’t get credit for the touchdown because this catch deserved it. Fortunately for the Gamecocks, they punched it in for the score to take the lead and seize momentum going into halftime.
